A fascist plot to overthrow the U.S. government

Americans faced the challenges of a fascist takeover of the government

Did you know that we once had a very organized and planned effort by fascists to overthrow the United States government?

Those involved in this effort attempted and insurrection and try to reverse the outcome of an election. The supporters of this attempted fascist coup identified with a movement that they called America first. There were United States senators and several members of Congress that were part of this whole group

Some of the members of this group were also involved with agents of a foreign government. That foreign government also tried to influence the outcome of a U.S. election. There were definitely treasonous activities that some of these people were engaging in the attempt to overthrow the US government.

As the various plots by these fascists to overthrow the government moved forward, there were trials for seditious conspiracy as well as politicians dying at inconvenient times as well as the use of government resources to spread propaganda on behalf of the coup plotters.

And by the end of this whole episode it had become clear that the legal process was unable to properly convict those who tried to overthrow the government, and the last remaining remedy was for the people, the citizens of the United States casting votes in elections, to defeat and throw out of office the Senators and members of Congress that is supported the fascist attempt to overthrow the U.S. government.

One of the leaders of this movement was a well-known individual who had tens of millions of followers who helped to inspire and incite supporters of the fascist plot. Efforts to investigate these activities were condemned and denounced by those involved and were denounced as partisan witch hunts.

You probably think this is about what we've seen going on in the last few years and the current America first movement led by Donald Trump and the January 6th Insurrection not to mention the other activities that the far right has been engaging in most recently in their attempts to overturn our democracy. While while you would be right and drawing that conclusion, because the current Far Right movement in the United States has done all of the things above as well, that is not what I'm referring to here.

Everything described above are the activities of the far right America first movement that was active in the 1940s before and during World War II. Yes in the 1940s the was a fascist plot, that was supported by the Nazi government of Germany, that was carried out by members of an earlier America first movement of the far right.
